If you’re planning to visit Luxembourg City during the holiday season, you’re in for a treat! The city’s Christmas markets are spread across several charming locations, each offering its own unique festive atmosphere. From the cozy stalls at Place d’Armes to the twinkling lights at Place de la Constitution, there’s plenty to explore. I’ll be sharing all the details below on where to find the best Christmas markets in Luxembourg City, so you can make the most of your holiday visit!

Lëtzebuerger Chrëschtmaart on the Place d’Armes

The traditional Christmas Market at Place d’Armes in Luxembourg’s Upper Town is truly a delightful experience! We really enjoyed this one, with its inviting atmosphere and holiday charm. The square is beautifully decorated with twinkling lights, tall trees, and a giant fir tree, creating the perfect seasonal setting. With around thirty chalets offering everything from handcrafted gifts and Christmas decorations to delicious Luxembourgish treats, there’s so much to explore. Plus, the live musical entertainment adds that extra touch of Christmas magic.

It’s no wonder this is one of the best Christmas Markets in Luxembourg City!

St. Nicholas Market on the Place de Paris

Although small in size, we loved the vibe of the Niklosmaart St. Nicholas market at Place de Paris in the Gare district! The cheerful vibes here were just perfect, with a beautifully decorated Christmas tree and live music filling the air. The highlight for families is definitely Saint-Nicolas, who awaits children in his charming little house, making it a magical spot for families. It might be cozy, but you will be surprised to find it’s one of the best Christmas Markets in Luxembourg City.

Winter Market on Constitution Square

This was the first one we visited, and we were absolutely blown away by how amazing it was! It’s like a big Christmas market carnival, complete with fun rides and games. We loved exploring the forty wooden chalets and indulging in tasty treats from the food stalls. The Ferris wheel offers a stunning view over the city, and definitely worth checking out. We were big fans of this, which is why it’s one of the best Christmas Markets in Luxembourg City.

Wanterpark + heated ice rink at Kinnekswiss

We didn’t actually get the chance to check out the Christmas market at Wanterpark, but we really wish we had! The highlight here is the heated ice rink, which sounds like the perfect place to channel all the holiday vibes. Plus, the gastronomic village at Kinnekswiss in the Parc Municipal adds even more charm with delicious food options. It’s definitely on our list for next time!

Don’t Forget to Eat This!

When you visit the best Christmas markets in Luxembourg City, be sure to indulge in some delicious local treats! One must-try is Gromperekichelcher, crispy potato fritters that are perfect for a chilly day. Another favorite is Bretzelcher, soft, warm pretzels often served with a sprinkle of salt. Don’t miss out on Lëtzebuerger Kachkéis, a savory cheese dish that’s a true Luxembourg specialty. For a sweet treat, try Mänzen, festive gingerbread cookies that add a sweet little touch to your holiday snacking.

Don’t miss out on grabbing a cute Christmas Market mug. Hot drinks like chocolate or wine are served in these and you often have to pay a deposit for the mug or you can choose to keep it. I have to admit the mugs make the cutest souvenir, but make sure you have the space in your luggage!
