The drop in temperature shakes off the summer crowds and simultaneously shakes up the trees, resulting in a flashy display of yellows, oranges and reds. Trust us, it’s worth it. Autumn in the Tetons seasonally spans the beginning of September to mid-October, but for prime leaf-peeping, try to hit the sweet spot around the third week of September. Don’t wait too long or you might miss nature’s catwalk extravaganza!

You’re going to be feeling some type of way when you see this place. Just a short distance from the north entrance of the park you will find Gros Ventre Road. You will pass Gros Ventre Campground on your right. Continue on this road for about another 2 miles and just as it curves around you will get this incredible view.
Just 20 minutes east of Gros Ventre Road you will want to make your way to Lower Slide lake to catch some more amazing views. There are several overlooks that allow you to pull over and admire the views before heading down to the lake. Carve out some time to take advantage of all these pit stops!
This is considered one of the most popular areas of the park, and for good reason! Follow I-89 north from Jackson Hole for about 16 miles, and keep an eye out for that small gravel road on your left. Dead-end into a gravel parking lot and voila! You’ve arrived.
But be warned, this place gets busy. To truly capture the best colors, make sure to hit the trail at beginning of Schwabacher’s Landing – because, let’s be real, nobody wants to see mediocre shots on their timeline. So set that alarm clock!

This is the spot that legendary photographer Ansel Adams immortalized, and trust us, you won’t be disappointed.
