And let’s not forget the star of the show – the magnificent Baroque staircase, decorated with stunning sculptures and fountains, leading you up to the church. Simply breathtaking!
But wait, there’s more! The Basilica of Bom Jesus is a jaw-dropping 18th-century marvel, with dazzling interiors and panoramic views to die for. No joke, Bom Jesus do Monte is an absolute must-visit for every traveler, especially when you’re exploring the best hidden gems in Portugal.

The church is accessible by car via the A29 motorway, taking around 30 minutes. It’s best to get here byy car, but you can take a train from Porto’s Campanhã station to Esmoriz and then a short taxi ride to Cortegaça.
This seaside chapel is definitely worth a visit – it’s so unique, I promise you won’t regret it! And I don’t know about you, but if all churches looked like this, you could count me in as a full-time churchgoer!
