I had heard rumors Scotland was beautiful, but I was not prepared for how smitten I would be with this place. It’s no wonder my sister decided to get married here, it gave me the perfect excuse to escape to Scotland. Our time in Scotland was short-lived, but if there is one thing I am good at it’s squeezing as many spots as possible into our itinerary. Oh, just the world-famous annual Highland Games, no biggie. The Highland games take place every first Saturday of September, not to mention the best of the best when it comes to pipe bands, pipers, Highland dancers, and athletes. Note that the castle has limited accessibility for those with mobility issues due to narrow staircases and the absence of elevators.

If you are visiting Scotland between April and October you don’t want to miss taking the Jacobite Steam Train through these tracks. We visited in November, and sadly missed views of this iconic train but this is definitely one of the most unique places in Scotland!
