Insider Tips on Visiting the Secret Sand Cave Behind the Shell Station

  • WHAT SHOULD I WEAR? Although it may sound obvious, visiting this spot means that you will be sinking in the sand as you make your way to the secret sand cave behind the shell station SO make sure to wear closed toe shoes. I wore sandals, because this was a last minute stop but my feet were so dirty by the time I returned to the car. And although the trail is short, be aware that there is no shade so wear sunscreen and bring some water.
  • HOW TO TAKE THE BEST PHOTOS OF THE SAND CAVE? We used our 20mm lens, and still had a difficult time capturing the entirety of it. We ended up switching to our iphone and took several photos in .5. I recommend using your iphone or a 11-20mm lens.
  • IS THE TRAIL HARD? No, this is a very easy trail that is suitable for all ages.
